Physiotherapy
Our team of specialist physiotherapists provide expert treatment and guidance in pain relief, movement, exercises, manual techniques and manipulation to treat, rehabilitate and re-educate people with a wide range of health problems. We work with people who have lost some movement and ability through either an accident, ageing, illness or disability; helping them to live as actively and independently as possible.
Musculoskeletal pain
The physiotherapy team also provides a comprehensive assessment and treatment service for all patients with musculoskeletal (joint, muscle, ligament, tendon) pain. We assess, diagnose and treat patients in all age groups with many different illnesses, injuries and conditions including;
- back and neck pain;
- cervicogenic headache;
- complex pain conditions;
- muscle,joint, ligament and tendon injuries;
- osteoarthritis;
- Pelvic health physiotherapy.
- post-operative conditions;
- rheumatological conditions (i.e. hypermobility, Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), Inflammatory Arthritis, Orthotics/surgical appliances);
- some pregnancy and childbirth related conditions;
- whiplash;
- Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD)
Treatments covered:
- Acupuncture and dry needling
- Exercise classes including shoulder rehab, joint replacement and Pilates
- Exercise therapy- individualised flexibility and strengthening programmes
- Electrotherapy, shockwave therapy
- Joint mobilisation and manipulation
- Soft tissue techniques like massage, myo-fascial release and trigger point therapy
- Taping including rigid and kinesio taping
- Medicines are used to supplement Musculoskeletal rehabilitation in a similar way to the use of injection therapy which has been used within Physiotherapy for many years now. We have physiotherapists who are able to prescribe if required.
