The violet team includes community paediatricians, physiotherapistsoccupational therapistsspeech and language therapistsdietitianspodiatrists and specialist nurses. Close links are maintained with the other pathways based at Snapdragons.

The violet pathway offers a single point of access for children who may have a known diagnosis, chromosomal, metabolic or genetic disorder, inborn or acquired disorders resulting in long term complex needs or disability.

What we do

All referrals are triaged by the multi-disciplinary team using the information provided.

If the referral is accepted the child will be seen by the most relevant professional/s to meet the child’s needs.

Children will be assessed and investigations carried out as required sometimes leading to a diagnosis.

We see children who may be delayed in more than one area of their development.

Therapy intervention will be provided according to need.

Children with long term conditions (for example, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and muscular dystrophy) will be reviewed and monitored on a regular basis by the team. An individual management plan will be discussed and agreed for each child.
