Media Release

24th March 2020

Medway Voluntary Action (MVA) is responding to the rapid developments and advice relating to the COVID-19 pandemic by co-ordinating information and support for the voluntary sector and local communities who are helping during these unprecedented times.

Jane Howard, MVA’s CEO, explains:

“The VCS and local residents are at the epicentre of Medway’s community response, and we know just how much determination and commitment they are giving daily to help respond within our communities.

The priority is that everyone remains safe, so all volunteering activities should adhere to the Government’s latest guidance and everyone should remain aware of any NHS advice we need to follow.

MVA is working collaboratively with other agencies and COVID-19 initiatives in Medway, including the Medway Council’s Public Health Community Hub and Medway Community Healthcare, and we are committed to sharing and communicating resources and information wherever possible.

Over the coming weeks MVA will endeavor to co-ordinate information and support to help empower communities and voluntary sector groups and organisations to take the action they chose efficiently and safely.”

In line with Government advice, all of the support from MVA can be accessed remotely via their website, where local communities can find information on COVID-19 developments, volunteering and financial capability support.
