Earlier in the year, following a period of public engagement, the decision on a proposal to merge five Medway GP sites was postponed. Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for planning and buying primary care services, has now awarded the contract for all five sites to DMC Healthcare. It follows the successful turnaround of St Mary’s Island Surgery and Iwade Health Centre, which was failing and is now rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission.
DMC Healthcare will continue to provide services at St Mary’s Island Surgery, Balmoral Healthy Living Centre and Twydall Branch Surgery, and from Monday 1 April will also be the provider at the Pentagon Centre and the Sunlight Centre Surgery.
Staff at Sunlight and Pentagon have been informed and we will be working closely with the CCG to ensure a smooth transition for them and for our patients.
