Medway On Call Care (MedOCC) staff who worked throughout the festive period, helped to bring a smile to patients and colleagues, by wearing Christmas versions of their usual scrubs.
The MedOCC service, based at Medway Maritime Hospital, is provided by Medway Community Healthcare and deals with urgent care problems when GP surgeries are closed, working with the NHS 111 service.
The festive-inspired scrubs were the creation of a group of local volunteers called Crafting For Carers. Formed on Facebook, the group consists of like-minded individuals from the Medway Towns and beyond, sewing scrubs with love for the carers within our communities.
Susan Shaw is a member of the MedOCC team and said:
“The Crafting For Carers group made our Christmas with these wonderful scrubs and helped put a smile on everyone’s faces. At such a difficult time for patients and NHS colleagues, these gestures can make such a difference and can really lift spirits when times are so hard. Thank you to Crafting For Carers for making our scrubs – they have even agreed to make us into elves next year!”
Our hospitals, ambulances, A&Es, community services, 111 and GP practices continue to experience high levels of demand. Please use our NHS services wisely. Only call 999 in the event of a serious or life-threatening emergency and use 111 online in the first instance and wherever possible, for non-emergencies: 111.nhs.uk.
